Album Questions
A flush mount album is an album that is made with panoramic spreads that are mounted directly to the album pages. The pages lay flat on the table when you open them.
A spread consists of two pages. All of our albums feature panoramic spreads. There is a very subtle crease that runs between the two pages that make up the spread. The albums open up to the inside cover that is blank. The photo spreads begin after the first page is turned.
Here are a couple of general guidelines regarding the number of photos you should upload:
- For a 30-page (15 spreads) album we recommend between 60-70 photos.
- For a 40-page (20 spreads) album we recommend between 70-80 photos.
- For a 50-page (25 spreads) album we recommend between 80-90 photos.
- For a 60-page (30 spreads) album we recommend between 90-100 photos.
- For a 70-page (35 spreads) album we recommend between 100-110 photos.
We run a traditional “wet lab” and print all of our album spreads using a laser printer that prints at 1200 DPI. We use Fuji Crystal Archive Silver Halide paper. We offer Fuji Lustre, Metallic, Deep Matte, and Satin professional grade photo papers. Archival grade papers are very resilient and are designed to last up to 100 years.
We use a proprietary dry-mount process to bind and assemble the album to prevent warping and distortions. The spreads are dry-mounted on thin but sturdy boards that are made of compressed cotton. Each spread is about 1-2 mm thick. This allows our pages to be sturdy yet sleek and very modern looking.
Please store your album in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Avoid placing the album under direct sunlight or in an excessively hot environment. Excessive heat can cause the adhesives to melt and warp. Use a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and avoid using water or any solvents on the cover or interior spreads.
